This document was prepared in response to Defra's consultation on its Evidence and Innovation strategy 2005-08. Our response focused on five of Defra's strategic priorities including: Climate change and energy, Sustainable consumption and production, Protecting the countryside and natural resource production and Sustainable farming and food, including animal health and welfare. We provided general support for the approach taken by Defra but noted concerns regarding the variable quality of analysis between sections.
