The Royal Society has responded to the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs' Clean Air Strategy Consultation.
The response draws from our newly published report with RAND Europe, which brings together evidence from published academic literature and interviews with leading scientists on the impact of Ammonia Emissions on Biodiversity.
The Society's response highlights the significant impact ammonia emissions could have on human health and biodiversity, and the financial impact this could have if left unaddressed. It also noted that there is no silver bullet to reduce ammonia emissions in the agriculture sector, and that a range of interventions and methods will be required.
