In March 2018, the Royal Society hosted the first of three policy dialogues with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. These dialogues bring together scientists and policymakers from the UK and China to discuss important scientific topics with policy relevance. The first of these focused on shared priorities for the research and regulation of genetic technologies as applied to plants, animals and microorganisms.
As an output from the dialogue, our two Academies have prepared a joint statement on these shared priorities and principles for the regulation of genetic technologies.
