The UK’s participation in EU Framework Programmes for research and innovation has been crucial to the growth and global influence of European science. Maintaining this relationship through Horizon Europe and Framework Programme 10 (FP10) will mean that we continue to build on each other’s strengths as a competitive and unified European Research Area that benefits people across Europe and globally.
The Royal Society has set out six principles for future programme design:
- Continued commitment to excellence
- Opportunities to maximise collaboration through national research infrastructures
- Inclusive and global
- Opportunities for international researcher mobility
- Balanced portfolio of funding
- More opportunities for bottom-up innovation
