Royal Society response to GCSE results

27 August 2009

Commenting on the GCSE results, Dr Peter Cotgreave, Director of Public Affairs at the Royal Society, said:

"The approximate 20% rise in biology, chemistry and physics entries is very pleasing, especially given that there were fewer young people sitting the GCSEs this year. At a time when the UK needs to ensure a healthy supply of scientists, the fact that we have more students better prepared to pursue science post-16 is great news."
