Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment - Cosmos

29 June 2010

The Royal Society’s 350th anniversary will be celebrated today with a feast for the eyes and the ears with a motion picture of the Milky Way and music from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

Visitors to Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, can watch a film of our stunning galaxy, while listening to the accompanying soundtrack created by students from Hampstead Secondary School together with players from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Ann and Peter Law OAE Experience for free today at 4pm.

This Royal Society anniversary celebration forms part of the Orchestra’s A Celebration of Life on Earth. Led by music animateur Mark Withers with scientist Professor Russell Foster FRS, the purpose of the year-long project is to stimulate interest in, and inspire a greater understanding of, music and science.
