Royal Society response to transposition of EU Directive on the use of animals for scientific purposes

21 September 2011

The EU Directive governing the use of animals used for scientific purposes was recently revised. The new Directive (2010/63/EU, published in September 2010) must now be transposed into the law of EU member states. We remain entirely supportive of the need for the use of animals in research, as expressed in the UK Bioscience Coalition response. Further information on the Society’s position on the use of animals in research can be found here.
