President of the Royal Society calls for MPs to reject no-deal Brexit

13 March 2019

Ahead of today’s House of Commons vote on a no-deal Brexit, Venki Ramakrishnan, President of the Royal Society, has called on MPs to reject the no-deal option.

He said:

“A no-deal Brexit would be a disaster for UK science and innovation. That will not be MPs' only consideration when they vote today but without a strong research and innovation sector the UK’s future will be bleak.

"Our elected representatives must now put the best interests of the people first. They need to reject a no-deal Brexit and move on to ending the uncertainty that is crippling the whole country.”
