Sir Adrian Smith, President of the Royal Society, comments on death of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

Paying tribute to His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh FRS, the President of the Royal Society, Sir Adrian Smith, said:

“The Royal Society is deeply saddened by the death of HRH Prince Philip. The Society greatly appreciated his support over the many years that he was a member of the Fellowship. His contribution to raising the profile of science and engineering will be much missed.

“I would like to add my deepest condolences to the Queen and the Prince’s family on behalf of the Fellowship and the entire Royal Society.”

 

Note: HRH Prince Philip was elected in 1951 under Statute 12 arrangements of the Royal Society.
