Royal Society President responds to appointment of Sir Andrew Mackenzie FRS as UKRI chair

Responding to the appointment of Sir Andrew Mackenzie FRS as chair of UKRI, President of the Royal Society, Sir Adrian Smith, said:

“Sir Andrew is a distinguished organic geochemist who has had success as an academic researcher, in his early career, and as a leader in energy and mining industries over several decades.

“He will be at the helm of UKRI’s governing body at a critical time for science and innovation, in this country and around the world. A successful research and innovation system is vital to our recovery from the pandemic and to realising a prosperous, resilient and sustainable society.”
