Commonwealth Academies call for joint action on linked challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss

14 June 2022

The Royal Society has joined 18 Commonwealth science academies to urge their nations’ leaders to work together to take coordinated and equitable action to address climate change, biodiversity loss and other critical and related sustainability challenges.

Their call, made in a  joint letter to Commonwealth Secretary-General Baroness Patricia Scotland, draws on recommendations shared with the Commonwealth Heads of Government in a joint statement and a joint letter in 2020 and 2021 respectively and comes ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which will take place in Kigali from 20-26 June 2022.
