Ananyo Bhattacharya is a science writer based in London. During a fifteen-year career in journalism, he has worked as a senior editor at Nature, Chemistry World and Research Fortnight, covering everything from science policy and bibliometrics to genetics and particle physics. Between 2014 and 2019, he was community editor, then science correspondent for The Economist. He is currently writing a book on the mathematician John von Neumann.
Before journalism, Ananyo worked as a medical researcher at the Burnham Institute in San Diego, California. He holds a degree in physics from the University of Oxford and a PhD in protein crystallography from Imperial College London.
