Julie is an Associate Professor in mathematics education at the University of Cambridge. She started her career as a computer analyst/programmer before becoming primary school teacher in London and then moving higher education. She teaches and supervises students across initial teacher education, master's and doctoral programmes. Her research and publications predominantly draw on sociological perspectives, particularly the work of Michel Foucault, to understand teachers’ and learners’ practices, identities and subjectivities in the context of power relations and issues of inclusion and inequalities.
