Alex Burch is Head of Visitor Experience, Learning and Outreach at the Natural History Museum. She is responsible for setting the Museum’s learning strategy, the delivery of learning activities and the development of a national public programme. Her department includes a Learning Research Team who provide insight and evaluation in order to influence the creation of new exhibitions, events and digital outputs. Alex also has responsibility for the Natural History Museum at Tring.

Alex joined the Natural History Museum in January 2015, having spent the previous 14 years at the Science Museum Group. There her roles included leading the Audience Research Team and delivering the Museum’s climate science gallery, before taking on the Director of Learning role. In that role, Alex led the development and delivery of the learning offer at three national museums and helped establish two long-term academic research projects investigating the impact of informal science learning experiences for young people. Alex’s PhD is in Marine Biology.
