Biography

Andrew Noyes is Professor of Education at the University of Nottingham. Following completion of his degree in mathematics he taught secondary mathematics in Nottinghamshire before moving to work in teacher education and research.  Since then, he has been Head of the School of Education and APVC for Research in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University.  Andy is Chair of the Joint Mathematical Council of the UK (2018-) and sits on  range of mathematics education committees and advisory boards. He has published many research reports and papers over twenty years and his research interests centre on post-16 mathematics education, on change in complex systems and on educational policy. His most recent projects span mathematics education from early years to postgraduate level, with funding from Wellcome, the Nuffield Foundation, DfE, XTX Markets and the ESRC. He has advised DfE on post-16 mathematics and worked with regulators in England and Scotland on qualifications reform.
