Professor Sir Anthony Finkelstein Kt CBE FREng FRS

Anthony Finkelstein is an internationally-recognised contributor to computer science and systems engineering research and practice.  His interests span all aspects of the development of complex software systems. His work has focussed on software development methods, tools and, in particular, software requirements.

He has established successful technology companies that leverage advances in software engineering and have found applications in a range of areas where the management of complex distributed data is a particular problem.

He has undertaken very significant leadership roles across public and professional service and education. These include as HM Government's Chief Scientific Adviser for National Security, working on problems of national security and defence. He has a continuing interest in science and innovation policy, as a former member of the Board of UKRI, and in government use of technology, as a current HMG Board member. He continues to contribute to work on security and policing. He is currently the President of City St George's, University of London. In this role he leads an institution that delivers education and research deeply informed by, and engaged with, practice and the professions.
