Anthony Jameson is a leading creator of numerical algorithms for the solution of the equations governing transonic fluid flow, and he has embodied them in computer codes which are widely used in the aircraft industries of the United States and Europe. Prior to embarking on this career, he made significant contributions to magnetohydrodynamics and to control theory. He received the NASA Medal for Exceptional Scientific Achievement in 1980.
