Professor Chwee Teck Lim is a bioengineer, inventor and serial entrepreneur and works at the intersection between engineering and medicine. In particular, he is known for his interdisciplinary approach in conducting fundamental research in human disease mechanobiology, and in translating his research outcomes into biomedical technologies for disease diagnosis and therapy. In particular, he is able to sieve out important clinical challenges and needs, develop disruptive health technologies, and eventually bring them from the bench to bedside and market, as is evidenced by the six startups that he has cofounded.
Professor Lim is an Elected Fellow of several academies and professional societies including the US National Academy of Inventors, ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology, Academy of Engineering, Singapore, and Singapore National Academy of Science.
He has received numerous research awards and honours including Nature Lifetime Achievement Award for Mentoring in Science, Asia's Most Influential Scientist, Highly Cited Researcher, ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award, Asian Scientists 100, Wall Street Journal Asian Innovation Award (Gold) and the President's Technology Award among others.
