David Hosken is an evolutionary biologist best known for his work on sexual phenotypes.  He primarily works on sexual selection and was awarded the 2013 Zoological Society of London's Scientific Medal for his work on sperm competition.  He is also interested in inbreeding, metabolism and sexual conflict at a DDT resistance locus.  He also continues to work on bats, the subject of his PhD research which he conducted at the University of Western Australia.  After research stints at the Universities of Zurich, Konstanz and Chicago, in 2004 he joined the University of Exeter at its Cornwall Campus, where he is currently Professor of Evolutionary Biology.
