Research summary

Errors in chromosomes segregation during mitosis are associated with tumorigenesis. Studies of chromosome segregation are therefore required to discover ways to prevent and treat cancer. Protein kinases are currently the major subject of studies of mitosis and represent attractive targets for anti-mitotic inhibitor drug development.

Our work focuses on understanding how proteins kinases regulate mitosis, with the aim to provide a framework for understanding the regulation of mitosis by the cooperative actions of multiple kinases. Our long term goal is to apply the in-depth knowledge of mitotic regulation by kinases to the development of novel anti-mitotic cancer therapeutics.
