Research summary

My current research interests involve transport phenomena in both optical and electronic systems, with emphasis in the analogies between them. Concerning light transport, I have been interested in the strong localisation of light, the optical counterpart of Anderson localization in condensed matter physics, and its applications to random lasers. Recently, I am particularly interested in Anderson localization of light in disordered metamaterials with correlated and uncorrelated disorder, Fano effect in metamaterials, plasmonic cloaks, and graphene plasmonics. In collaboration with Dr. Nikitas Papasimakis (University of Southampton), we investigate optical activity and optical forces in disordered plasmonic systems.

Concerning electronic transport, I have been focusing my efforts to understand Anderson localization in disordered graphene nanoribbons, to propose electronic counterparts of cloaking mechanisms in graphene, as well as the influence of molecular conformation and chirality in single-molecule electronics.
