Kate Walter

Kate works within the Northern Star Academies multi-academy trust leading on teacher development and external collaboration.  Kate is a Physics graduate from the University of Edinburgh and taught for many years in Scotland, Newcastle, Bradford and North Yorkshire.  Kate has led a successful Science Department and progressed through school senior leadership achieving the National Professional Qualification in Executive Headship in 2020.  She has led a Teaching School Alliance and  Initial Teacher Training.  Kate acts as a consultant, specialising in teaching, curriculum, and assessment and is an accredited School Resource Management Advisor. Kate has been involved in science continuing professional development for many years leading the North and West Yorkshire Science Learning Partnership, and the specialist hub for Science support staff - contracted through STEM Learning.  Important issues include closing the gender gap in Physics and ensuring all students whatever their background have access to a great Science education and career.
