Matt’s research seeks to understand the ways diet can modify ageing. Mild dietary restriction can extend lifespan in many animals and there are indications that it may also work for humans. We seek to understand the dietary components important for this effect, as well as the molecular changes these nutrients cause. These findings should highlight how diet can be used to enhance health as we age.
Matt currently holds a University Research Fellowship and works at the UCL Institute of Healthy Ageing.
Matt led an exhibit at the Summer Science Exhibition in 2012 and has participated in exhibitions and science festivals throughout the UK. He has served on the Summer Science Exhibition committee since 2013.
