Professor Molly Shoichet holds a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair at the University of Toronto and served as Ontario’s first Chief Scientist. She leads a laboratory of 24, has graduated 190 researchers, published 600+ papers, patents and abstracts and given 375+ lectures worldwide in the fields of regenerative medicine, tissue engineering and drug delivery. Together with her team, she invented a series of novel biomaterials, thereby advancing solutions to key challenges in these fields. She founded three spin-off companies, including AmacaThera, and is engaged in translational research. She is passionate about research communication and co-founded Research2Reality.com. Dr Shoichet is the L’Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science Laureate, North America (2015), is an Officer of the Order of Canada, holds the Order of Ontario, is University Professor, Foreign Member of the US National Academy of Engineering and the first person to be a Fellow of Canada’s 3 National Academies. She graduated with a BSc from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1987) and a PhD from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in Polymer Science and Engineering (1992).
