Neil has taught mathematics, statistics, computer science and philosophy at school, college and university levels for over fifty years. Throughout that time he has also worked as an examiner and in professional development for teachers. His other academic interests include linguistics, with a particular focus on the role of language in statistics. He is a former Vice President of the Royal Statistical Society, and he is the Chair of the Teaching Statistics Trust.
