Summary: The ultimate efficiency limit for photovoltaic solar power conversion stands at 87% yet few technologies have achieved efficiencies in excess of 25%. My research seeks to demonstrate highly efficient solar cell technologies, principally in a multi-junction configuration but also using thermal processes and sequential absorption. The work starts with fundamental theoretical considerations, continues through to demonstrating practical prototype cells and finishes by establishing power prediction methodologies for these advanced solar cells for terrestrial and space applications.
