Pierre Deslongchamps has made seminal contributions towards the total synthesis of natural products and the concept of stereoelectronic effects. He has received many awards, including the 1993 Canada Gold Medal for Science and Engineering. In addition to being a Fellow of the Royal Society, he is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and was elected as a Foreign Member of the French Académie des sciences.
