Research summary

My research focuses on molecular design and synthesis of organic compounds

with interesting photophysical and/or photochemical properties that may have

potential applications in the construction of photoresponsive supramolecular

materials, assemblies with high energy transfer efficiency and as novel fluorescent

probes for biomolecules. We are particularly interested in the design, studies and

applications of smart functional materials and biomaterials based on selfassembly.

The current projects in my lab include: 1) preparation of the stiffstilbene

derived supramolecular polymers whose self-assembly behaviour and

physical properties can be regulated by light; 2) studying the mechanosensing

behavior of the anthracene dimers in polymer materials; 3) developing new

luminescent materials based on the self-assemblies of chromophores for

bioimaging and biosensing.
