Research summary

I have been a Wolfson Merit Award holder since October 2016.

In the last 6-months, I have concentrated mostly on analyses of data from a large trial on clinical management of cryptococcal meningitis in Africa. This work is being done in partnership with colleagues from St Georges (who lead on the trial) and with colleagues from Africa and other parts of the world. The trial represents a major advance in the field and its findings will influence global clinical practice and policy.

I have also been a co-author on 4 research papers published in good journals in my field. I secured a £2m grant from the UK National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) to develop a large-scale research programme on HIV and NCDs integrated health care delivery- a completely novel area. I have also submitted for a 15m Euro grant for research on preventing mortality in late-stage HIV-infected persons. The decision for this is pending.
