Research summary

Broadly my research is focussed on the synthesis metal-organic framework compounds (MOFs) by employing various aromatic carboxylic acids and biomolecule-based linkers. The hydrothermal synthesis and slow diffusion methods are used to grow single crystals of these compounds. The structures of the newly designed solids are thoroughly probed by employing single crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction methods. The other characterization techniques like TGA, IR, UV/vis, photoluminescent spectroscopy are also used.

My research interest is specifically focussed on following aspects.

a) Design of MOFs with electron-rich aromatic cores and I am looking at the possibility of utilizing these compounds for sensing of electron deficient analytes like nitroaromatics.

b) Design of nitrogen-rich linkers and assembling it with redox-active metal ions to form a MOFs and exploring these MOFs for the tandem catalysis.

c) Study of solvent dependent dielectric behavior in MOFs.

d) Loading of bimetallic nanoparticles on MOF pores with the aim of developing multi-functional MOFs for catalytic applications.
