Research summary

I am a theoretical condensed matter physicist working on different spin-related phenomena in solid-state systems, in particular Dirac materials such as graphene. Plain graphene is not magnetic but the adsorption of adatoms can induce either magnetism or strong spin-orbit coupling, allowing the generation of spin currents. One problem that interests me and Aires Ferreira, my host in UK, is studying how we can tailor graphene’s properties in this way.
