Research summary

I focus on the synthesis and use of hybrid molecular sieves (metal-organic frameworks) for practical applications in carbon, hydrogen and harmful waste storage, along with the filtering of toxic gas mixtures. I am currently researching amorphous metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), and the functional (luminescent, optically active, magnetic) hybrid glasses which can be produced from them, in which I am the leading researcher in the field. I am also interested in the mechanical properties of MOFs, with a view to designing strong frameworks which resist external pressures or stresses.
