Research summary

Within a few years it will be difficult to access government and health services, bank, arrange transport, or even be entertained without using some form of personal computer, information kiosk, digital interactive television, or intelligent mobile device. In this digital economy, those who are not using current technologies to access this information and utilise the services will be disadvantaged. For many this will not be a problem, but those who have difficulties with new technology risk being prevented from full participation in society.

My research explores a range of issues surrounding design for inclusion, seeking to understand and address problems that create barriers for people, due to age or disability. It examines the ways in which technology designs can serve people with diverse needs. Based on this understanding, the goal is to inform the design of new digital products, services and healthcare options.

My research also explores issues of heath care and personal health management, both in terms of the environment of care and digital solutions to help provide better care and eHealth information.
