This policy seminar will focus on the scientific understanding of obesity and related chronic diseases, such as type II diabetes.
The aim of the meeting is to bring together scientists working in these fields with policy makers to discuss the role of science in these important areas of public health and summarise the key issues the scientific and policy communities need to take forward. Internationally-renowned speakers will cover areas including the genetic and developmental basis of obesity, clinical applications in obesity management through to public health strategies and the priorities for the UK Government. The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion. Professor Jeffrey Friedman (Rockefeller University, New York) will open the meeting with an optional Early Bird lecture at 08.45am with the days programme starting at 10.00am.
