02 October 2012 12:45 - 14:00

A debate with Rushinara Ali MP, Nobel Laureate Sir John Sulston FRS, Professor Tim O'Riordan OBE FBA, and Tim Radford

Event Details

With the world's population projected to reach between 8 and 11 billion by 2050 and unprecedented and rising levels of consumption, the Royal Society and the British Academy ask what will the effects be on our planet? How can we ensure the wellbeing of all people, whilst protecting the environment? How can we achieve the goals of sustainable development?

Join Rushanara Ali MP, Shadow Minister for International Development, Nobel Laureate Sir John Sulston FRS, Chair of the Royal Society People & the Planet report and Professor Tim O'Riordan OBE FBA, Professor Emeritus of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia, in discussion with Guardian Journalist Tim Radford to debate what can be done to allow both people and the planet to flourish.
