Grand Theft Auto V hit $1 billion in sales faster than the biggest film launches of all time. As video game realism reaches new heights, what can we expect to see in the coming years? Visual effects researcher Darren Cosker, SimCity architect Andrew Willmott and Disney’s Kenny Mitchell delved into the techniques used and the science of digital realism.

Dr Darren Cosker is a Royal Society Industry Fellow based in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bath.
