‘Vision’ at the ASE Annual Conference 2015
“Science contributes a lot to society but it will only do that if we can get the education of science right” – Sir Paul Nurse, President of the Royal Society
As part of our ‘Vision for science and mathematics education’ project follow up, the Royal Society will be attending the Association for Science Education (ASE) conference in Reading on 8 January. We are keen to engage teachers at this stage to hear their views and opinions on our Vision project recommendations.
Sir Martin Taylor, chair of the Vision Committee will present an overview of the Vision. This will be followed by a panel discussion chaired by Professor Dame Julia Higgins, on our six recommendations, where the audience will be invited to share their thoughts. The panel will be made up of:
- Ms Helen Rogerson, Head of Science, Westonbirt School, Gloucestershire
- Mr Faisal Khan, Head of Science, the Market Bosworth School, Leicestershire
- Ms Max Hyde, President of the National Union of Teachers (NUT)
- Mr David Swinscoe, Director, Centre for Applied Sciences, City and Islington College (member of the Vision Committee)
