Breakfast discussion at the Labour party conference hosted by the Royal Society, Royal Academy of Engineering, Academy of Medical Sciences and British Academy.
The UK has a proud track record of excellence in research and innovation. But UK productivity lags far behind other G7 economies, and so too does our public and private spend on research and innovation. This suggests that we can do much more to harness our excellence to give productivity a much-needed boost and ensure all groups of people have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
The Academies will be joined by leaders from academia and industry alongside researchers and innovators working around the UK to commercialise ideas to explore how government, industry and the research and innovation community can best foster research and innovation, and enable people across society to reach their full potential.
