What makes an animal smart?

07 March 2016 19:00 - 20:30

Animals behave in ways that surprise and impress us. Most of these behaviours we tend to think are special to humans, such as using tools. But animals can also do things we might find very difficult, like remembering thousands of locations where food is hidden.

Join Dr Lauren Guillette to discuss the fascinating science behind animal learning and cognition. What does it mean to be smart? How do we find out if an animal is smart? And are some animals smarter than others?

The event is being held in partnership with the Glasgow Cafe Scientifique.
