We spend around 90% of our lives in buildings yet little attention is paid to the impact of the materials we use to create them.
Conventional construction materials, like concrete, bricks and steel, rely on non-renewable resources and are responsible for significant greenhouse gas emissions.
By turning to natural building materials, such as straw, hemp and unfired clay, we can develop green, healthy alternatives to mainstream solutions.
Professor Pete Walker spoke on these eco-friendly solutions with hands-on demonstrations of natural building materials.
