The culture of research and the future of the science system - Early career researcher conference

19 September 2016 09:30 - 16:00

Do you want to discuss the culture of research and the future of the science system?

Could you design a better system?

The Royal Society held a conference with early career researchers to discuss the culture of research, the pressures on the current science system and the possibilities for improvement.

The one day conference brought together early career researchers to debate and discuss how things like funding, careers and the communication of science are supporting or getting in the way of the production of high quality research. And then gave them a chance to re-design the system looking at how research culture could and should change in the future.

“We all of us make the culture of our research system, and if we don’t like parts of it and think it incentivises the wrong things, we all of us have a responsibility to work together to change it. "
