Hugh Bourne: Pioneer of Science for All

Best known as the co-founder of Primitive Methodism, Hugh Bourne was also a self-educated local science pioneer, working in the community to promote scientific understanding and experiment.
Englesea Brook Chapel and Museum uncovered Hugh Bourne’s scientific legacy with this special event featuring talks and hands-on experiments. Visitors could explore the remedies behind his Physic Garden, see a Newcomen Steam Engine model and visit an accompanying exhibition.
