The Summer Science Exhibition is an annual display of the most cutting-edge science and technology in the UK. This free, week-long festival features 22 exhibits and a series of inspiring talks and fun activities for all ages. Meet the scientists, discover the exciting research and technology they work on and have fun with great hands-on activities.
The exhibition is suitable for all ages, entry is free, no advance registration required. School groups need to register in advance, visit our schools and colleges page for more information.

Opening hours
Please note: there can be queues to enter the building, particularly during the weekend. If you are planning to attend a talk or workshop, please ensure that you leave enough time to queue for entrance to the building as well as the talk.

Security
Please note that there will be increased security at the Summer Science Exhibition this year.
We ask our visitors to help us in the following ways:
- Please allow extra time for your arrival at the Summer Science Exhibition in order to pass through security. We recommend arriving extra early if you are attending a specific event
- Please identify yourself to a member of staff if you require additional help in accessing the exhibition
- Please note that if you leave the exhibition, you will be required to pass through security again on re-entry
- Please report anything suspicious to a member of staff or security
- Please help us by complying swiftly with any requests from our security team or staff members

Food and drink
Take a break at our special pop-up café, situated on our covered terrace on the ground floor. The café offers a selection of hot dishes, salads, sandwiches, cakes and a range of hot and cold beverages.
The café is open throughout the exhibition and closes 30 minutes before closing time each day.
Please note that the café is not wheelchair accessible, please speak to a member of staff if you would like to purchase food from the café.

Portable hearing loops
Free portable hearing loops will be available on demand. If you would like to make use of this service, please speak to a member of staff at the information desk on your arrival at the exhibition.
Portable seats
Free portable seats will be available on demand. If you would like to make use of this service, please speak to a member of staff at the Information Desk on your arrival at the exhibition.
Wheelchair access
The exhibition is fully wheelchair accessible, except for the terrace marquee area. Please note, if you would like to purchase food and drink from the terrace marquee area please speak to a member of staff.
If you would like a wheelchair space at a talk or activity, please contact us in advance so that we can ensure it is reserved for you. We also have an adult wheelchair which can be booked in advance by contacting us at exhibition@royalsociety.org.
Blue Badge holders
There are a limited number of parking spaces opposite the building forecourt, on the opposite side of the road. These spaces may be booked in advance by visitors with a Blue Badge disabled parking permit. Please book in advance by contacting exhibition@royalsociety.org.
Young children
There are baby changing facilities in the basement and on the ground floor of the building. Buggy parking space is also available on the ground floor.
Cloakroom
An unstaffed cloakroom is available on the basement floor.
