Back story: how to make nerves regrow in the spine
This event is part of the Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition 2023.
A spinal cord injury prevents communication between your brain and your body, leading to paralysis. But does this mean there is no possibility of recovery?
Fresh from her lab, Dr Philippa Warren will explore with you the exciting and hope filled potential of regenerative neuroscience. She will describe why disease and injury causes paralysis, what work has enabled us to make cells grow and function again in the hostile environment of the injured spine, and how we are close to solving the puzzle of spinal injury, enabling real benefit to people with the disorder.
