Katherine Joy: Space invaders - meteorite attack
This event is part of the Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition 2023.
Every day the Earth is being struck by small space rocks. Some of these burn up in Earth’s atmosphere, but some survive their fiery journey down to the surface of the Earth. We recover and analyse these samples to reveal how asteroids and planets formed and geologically evolved through time.
In this talk Professor Katherine Joy (Royal Society - University Research Fellow) will discuss different methods of meteorite recovery including those that land in the UK and in Antarctica.
