This event is part of the Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition 2023.

Join Leighton House Museum for fun, practical workshops exploring the science of music and sound and finding out how sounds are changed. Throughout the day you can learn how the sounds of music are made, and listen to renowned composer and musician, Maya Youssef, who will be performing using the Qanun – the string instrument she is famed for playing. Enjoy the displays whilst listening to birdsong and identifying the birds.

 

Attending the event

The workshop will be held in the Conference room at the following times:

Saturday 8 July 2023, 10.30am — 11am, 11.30am — 12pm, 12.30pm — 1pm, 2.30pm — 3pm and 3.30pm — 4pm.

The lightning lecture will be held in the Conference room at the following times:

Saturday 8 July 2023, 1.30pm — 1.50pm

Maya Youssef will be performing in the Conference room at the following times:

Saturday 8 July 2023, 2pm — 2.30pm, 3pm — 3.30pm and 4.30pm — 5pm.
