Imagine... Science: Grave Importance

Anthropologist and broadcaster, Professor Alice Roberts, sheds fresh light on how people have lived in Britain, by examining the stories of the dead. Her three books on burial, Ancestors, Buried and Crypt, revive characters from the past, starting with the earliest Britons and journeying through the Roman occupation and on to the Middle Ages.
Professor Alice Roberts was the first recipient of the Royal Society’s David Attenborough award for Public Engagement in 2020.
The Royal Society is proud to support three events at this year's Hay Festival. Other events include Imagine... Science: Mums on Mars with Cat Bohannon and Kelly Weinersmith, and Imagine… Science: The Story of the Solar System with Maggie Aderin-Pocock.
