Lates: Demystifying Palm Oil: What are the effects that it is having on our environment?

This event is part of the Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition 2025.
Palm oil has been a sustainability talking point for over a decade, with the media, supermarkets, and scientists all having an opinion. But what do we really know, and what does the research show? Postgraduate researcher Charlie Osborne has been collaborating on environmental research with the Malaysian palm oil industry since 2022.
Join Charlie as she explores the reality of the global palm oil industry and the relationship that we have with it as UK consumers.
Charlie has been funded by the Royal Society to delivery a community engagement project in Northumberland based on her research.
