Migrant journeys

This event is part of the Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition 2025.
Gilbert White was one of the first people to propose that birds migrate overseas, to the surprise and amazement of people at the time. And you might be as surprised and amazed to hear that tiny insects, including moths and butterflies, can migrate hundreds of miles too.
Make your own moth or butterfly while you learn about these exceptional migration journeys, and the impact of climate change, with the team from Gilbert White’s House and Gardens, funded through the Royal Society’s Places of science grant scheme.
