Talk: Building a digital heart with AI

This event is part of the Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition 2025.
Join Dr Abhirup Banerjee, Royal Society University Research Fellow and Principal Investigator at the University of Oxford, as he explores how cutting-edge artificial intelligence is reshaping the way we see and understand the human heart.
From MRI and X-ray to angiography and CT, modern medical scans generate vast amounts of complex 2D data, but how can we turn these into detailed 3D or even 4D digital models of the heart? Learn how advanced AI-powered technologies are enabling doctors to visualise heart anatomy in real time, personalise treatment, and move us closer to virtual simulations of the human body. This is a glimpse into the future of cardiovascular care, where medicine meets machine learning.
